Hello, my entrepreneurial community,
As we get closer to year-end, it’s natural to want to start reflecting on what has passed and planning for what’s to come. For many, a year calendar year is about resolutions, fresh starts, and setting ambitious goals. But let’s take a moment to consider a different approach: What if, instead of focusing on a clean slate, we leaned into continuation?
Not every year has to bring drastic change. Sometimes, the most meaningful progress is about building on what’s already in motion—strengthening the roots, amplifying the momentum, and nurturing ongoing projects. This mindset encourages us to recognise the value of persistence, resilience, and dedication to what we’ve already started.
Why Continuation?
A continuation plan keeps us from the trap of constantly chasing new goals without grounding ourselves in what we’ve already achieved. It allows us to honour the hard work, the lessons learned, and the growth we’ve nurtured over time. It’s about maximising what’s already in our hands, not constantly seeking the “next big thing.”
Here’s how you can approach a continuation plan:
Revisit and Refine
Look at the goals, projects, and personal growth areas you’ve already set in motion. Where are you gaining traction? What’s still meaningful? A continuation plan doesn’t discard the old but refines it, keeping what works and adjusting as needed.
Focus on Small Wins
Continuation is about celebrating progress, however small. Small wins build up over time, bringing confidence and reinforcing resilience. Rather than overwhelming yourself with new resolutions, acknowledge the victories you’ve already achieved and keep nurturing them.
Deepen Your Impact
Sometimes, growth is about depth, not breadth. A continuation plan invites us to go deeper into our work, relationships, or projects, enhancing the impact without the pressure of starting over.
Commit to Consistency
Consistency is the key to true mastery and progress. By focusing on continuation, you’re committing to showing up with dedication, not only when something feels new and exciting but also when it requires patience and perseverance.
So, as we close out this year, let’s approach the future with the courage to continue. Let’s build upon the foundation we’ve already set, staying resilient and focused. Not every year requires a new beginning—sometimes, it just needs a steady, committed continuation.
Here’s to a season of continuation, consistency, and deepened impact. Let’s go further with what we already have!
Yours in development,
The Business Doctor, Keitumetse Lekaba
